Location
This photo was taken in Metamora, Indiana. Metamora is Indiana's only functioning canal town, platted in 1838. Much mystery surrounds this castle. It has been used in the past for weddings and other events. The former owner is a world traveler and collector of religious artifacts. He is in possession of the Metamora Cross, a huge 16th century cross also called St. Peter's cross that was allegedly found in cave in France behind a fake wall just after WWII.Time
This photo was taken mid-day. This is a westward looking view so judging by the shadows of the trees it was about noon or shortly after.Lighting
It was a bright mid-day shot despite much cloud cover. I like the effect of the clouds! I think they add to the mystery and majesty of this place.Equipment
I shot, at the time with a Nikon D40 and standard lens. No tripod, filter or flash.Inspiration
I love the mystery surrounding this castle and one would not think "Indiana" at all by viewing this photo of a medieval looking castle. It's a fascinating subject!Editing
Post-processing includes some saturation and a small amount of dodging and burning to get the desired effect. In my camera bag
I currently carry only my Nikon D7500 with the standard lenses and also a Tamron 18-270 lens. I don't like to be burdened with carrying any more than that and my desire is to enjoy the journey first and foremost and capture it for memories secondly.Feedback
These fascinating places are out there, iin every state and everywhere around the world. One need not travel to exotic places to find exotic subject matter.
