Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is of myself, surfing at my home break back in Umhlanga Rocks, Durban, South Africa. It was taken by one of my very good friends Dan. He's an excellent photographer and always manages to catch great moments like this one. I grew up surfing this spot and always had the best time here!

Time

It was around 10 - 11am, morning surfs are the best!

Lighting

Natural lighting in natural environments = best way to bring out a good natural image without it looking too over the top

Equipment

Nikon D500, I think. Not sure on the lense, you'll have to ask Dan! Haha

Inspiration

This photo is taken of myself, by one one of my good friends, who actually inspired me to start photography of my own

Editing

No filters used, just a few basic brightness and other small adjustments

In my camera bag

Nikon D700 with a few good lenses. Fisheye lenses make images look like a lot of fun. A good wide angle lens can really open up your image. Lighting filters aren't always necessary but can help with light pollution when trying to get a good shot on a really bright day

Feedback

A good raw image with basic adjustments to lighting and ambiance goes a long way when capturing natural images of the ocean, mountain ranges, forests etc.
