Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Staten Island, New york. There is a place there called Richmond town, where you can travel into the past without ever leaving the present. The picture is of an old school house...the oldest in New York state.

Time

This photo was taken in the late morning.

Lighting

As bright as it was outside the school house remained dark inside. The only open window was this one. Which is great because I wanted the focus of the picture to be window's frame.

Equipment

I wish I could say I used some awesome camera with a super cool lens but in reality I used a 5mp camera phone.

Inspiration

I live in a city where everything is always new. When you walk in the colonial Richmond town it's like stepping into another world. When I saw the school house I wanted to capture a piece of the past and bring it into the present.

Editing

Usually I like to play around with photos to bring out all the colors Im not able to capture with the camera. With this one the lighting was so good all I had to do was darken the edges a bit to put most of the focus on the center of the image.

In my camera bag

The only thing I carry is my camera phone. I don't have the funds for a quality camera.

Feedback

If you catch the right lighting and a good angle you can use any camera to catch a great picture.
