One night everything was quiet until wen I heard a scream. I went out with a flashlight and I start to follow that noise. From a close tree something felt on the ground and this is what I found; a California Kingsnake (Lampropeltis californiae) choking a Gila woodpecker (Melanerpes uropygialis). It took 45 minutes for the snake to suffocate and swallow the bird until the shoulders. Reached that point the snake realized it's prey was to large and it rejected it.
