Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Devon on my family holiday we stayed on a farm which had a stumprery. (a garden which features uprooted stumps.)

Time

It was just after lunch I went for a walk and decided to explore the stumprery. The air was thick with bugs but those bites we're worth it.

Lighting

The light plays really weirdly on the stumps and the shadows that were cast had a distinctive feel especially under the canopy.

Equipment

I only had the iPhone 5 camera it's a great tool and helped me to get into photography. Without it I wouldn't no the joys of photography.

Inspiration

The stumps and canopy were really interesting, and I had the opportunity so I played around taking different photos until I got this.

Editing

Post processing is a massive part of the apeal of this photo. There's an app on the iPhone called 360 panorama it lets you take photos and puts them on the inside of a sphere, then instead of a sphere you can rap them round a single point.(stereographic) I think anything done like this is kind of like a small planet. Like we all have our own little worlds. I just like to share mine!

In my camera bag

Umm I'm getting a Nikon d3300 for my birthday in October but at the moment I only have the iPhone. It's really got me into photography! Even though I'm 14 I'm still trying to make beautiful images and anybody can!

Feedback

I'd say don't let it put you off if you don't have a £500 Nikon. (That does help though) Anyone can make great images and technology makes it even better. If you want to capture something like this download 360 panorama (it's free) and practice a ton! Try to keep the camera an equal length away from you and don't be afraid to start again. Happy shooting.
