Behind The Lens

Location

I took this Photograph at a Nature Park in Mumbai, India.

Time

It was early morning.

Lighting

Early to rise always, always gets you that special light and moment you wait for. It was spring and the moment was just right, the lighting, diffused and obliquely striking, just what you would need to glorify nature as I have attempted to do in this Photograph.

Equipment

For this photograph I used a Nikon D 600 DSLR body with a Nikon 300mm f 4, lens ,

Inspiration

As a nature lower, the moment I spotted the butterfly, I pursued her from place to place, any nature Photographer will tell you that you will see the butterfly sitting most steadfastly on a stem, you raise you camera, focus and she's gone! try it if you don't believe me. I was patient as you ought to be, I put the Camera on Continuous High and the moment she settled I just kept shooting, you got the picture!

Editing

Yes, in this photograph, I cropped a bit, enhanced the contrast a wee bit, sharpened very slightly the head. As the Lens was wide open it provided the out of focus background which adds drama to the Photograph.

In my camera bag

On such shoots, I carry a DSLR Body, A Micro Lens, either a 60mm or a 105mm, a long lens and a Tripod.

Feedback

Patience, patience, and more patience! for such photographs you need a good pair of Jeans as you often will have to kneel, a sturdy Tripod, and a sense of timing, nature always plays a game with you and you in turn have to guess what she is unto, laugh, smile, and don't ever curse, you will get a fulfilling outing, if you don't , well there's another day. Happy Shooting!
