Location
I took this photograph in Mikanos, the Greek Island, I just loved the blue against the white backdrop. The Island sings of joy, happiness and warmth and to keep match with that are the people and the beautiful colours that overwhelm you.Time
It was around mid day , the light was magical and the contrast just lept out of the Photograph.Lighting
There was an interplay of sunlight with scattered cloud, brightness and a wonderful cross light as you moved away from the sunlight.Equipment
I used a Nikon D 800 Body with a Nikkor 24- 120 mm f 4 Lens., hand held.Inspiration
Whenever I travel, I always make it a point to be one with the people, share in their customs and traditions, talk to then if I can be understood, observe their mannerisms, look and appreciate the surroundings, their houses with respect for their privacy. I was wandering around photographing the town that day and I came across several beautiful homes, by lanes, some of them are captured as well in my gallery which please see. My reaction to this picture was instantaneous as always, I angled myself, framed and took the photograph. My en devour has always been to present to the viewer of my photographs, the colours, the drama, and the scene as I saw it the moment I tripped the shutter with as little as possible post processing.Editing
Only very little. You will see from my photographs no artificiality, no extra contrast , as I do believe in the old style of getting the exposure right the first time. I crop of course where required and limit myself otherwise to the barest minimum. In my camera bag
I generally carry two Camera bodies, a 24- 120 mm lens, a 16 - 35mm lens and a 70- 200 mm lens, and my trusted 60mm Micro Nikkor lens, a mono pod or a tripod, I then carry the equipment I need for the day's shoot, as it gets pretty heavy to lug around, I will continue to use a DSLR and lenses that support it. there is no substitute,Feedback
Walk your talk, I mean walk and walk the city, read up where the places are located, try and plan the day, segment wise , else you will go all over the place without getting and proper photographs, time your spots, eg. by the sea side for evening shots, or sunset over the city from a high spot. There are no rules, be yourself, mingle with the people go all over, respect their privacy and follow their customs you will be surprised as to how hospitable and welcoming they are !
