"Then" being the medieval lighthouse, built around 1328, shaped a bit like a rocket, which stands high above Blackgang on the Isle of Wight.
"Now" being the International Space Station, flying through the shot.

It's actually 5 pictures merged. The main photo was taken after sundown while there was still a little glow left in the sky. The ISS came over around 45 mins later and was taken in four 20 sec exposures, which were then blended and merged in photoshop.
