This photo was taken in the Wiltshire countryside where I was born. I am a self taught photographer and I started taking photographs as subject matter for my paintings but now I love photography just as much in it`s own right as an art form.Time
This is one of my favorite photographs. We had actually gone fossil hunting that day but I take my camera everywhere with me eager not to miss any opportunities. We stumbled across a field filled with thistles and butterflies...needless to say I was thrilled! We didn't find any fossils that day but I found a perfect picture opportunity.Lighting
The natural light was perfect to capture the colour of the thistle and the butterfly just as it was.Equipment
There was no equipment involved in this picture other than my trusty sony cybershot that is perfect for impromptu shots.Inspiration
Nature at its simplest and most beautiful is often unplanned as was this photo. I look for opportunities that cross my path all of the time.Editing
There was no particular processing involved in this shot.I am new to the game and this is quite raw. I think it works though. In my camera bag
At the moment all I have is my little Sony. I am looking to buy an SLR and I am saving my pennies from any painting that I sell :)Feedback
Patience. You have to wait for the right opportunities and natural lighting. Work with nature, watch and be patient. I take lots of pictures of a single subject as clouds move, as the light changes and at different angles etc. This was my most perfect shot out of lots that day.
