I took this photo in the garden of my beloved mother-in-law in Algarve.Time
It was a sunny February afternoon about 5 pm when I went out to take a look at some flowers and enjoy the warm weather.Lighting
I wanted this image to look a bit different and more attractive than simple close-up of a flower, so I found one in the shadow in order to avoid direct sun light. I used macro to show the beautiful texture and colors of the center compared to the rest of the flower.Equipment
This photo was taken with a Canon 70D equipped with an EF 100mm Macro lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
The macro world is always so fascinating, so unusual to the human eye... Amazing colors, textures, patterns and insects that we never could see clearly without help of macro lenses. I am always looking for different things around me to take some close-ups, even in the places where it does not seem to exist anything interesting.Editing
In this particular case I cropped the photo to make it square for a more appealing look.In my camera bag
The thing I always have with me is my Canon EF 18-135mm IS STM, simply because it is very practical. I travel a lot, but due to time constraints I usually do not have much time to take the pictures that require to stay for a while in the same place. Then I pack a Canon 70D body and EF-S 10-18mm IS STM. This lens is great in confined spaces, streets with large buildings and inside of houses. Next is my Canon EF 100mm Macro lens, I love it and use it not just for close-ups but for portraits too. It has an amazing quality and is quiet, but, sometimes, depending on the situation, I pack a Canon EF-S 50-250mm IS STM and a Canon EF 50mm ( my favorite for portraits), my tripod and a wireless camera remote.Feedback
One of the major features of a photographer is patience. I try a lot of angles and light possibilities, and in this particular case it was windy too so I had to wait until the wind stopped while avoiding direct sunlight to achieve this smooth look. Finally, do not give up from taking photos in case you forgot your tripod at home! This was my situation, but I persisted and, eventually, managed to take this photo. So, to sum it up, be patient and be persistent.
