This was a shoot on the movie set of a Dutch 10-part TV-series, broadcasted on Netflix called: In het vuur van de storm. I have shot this with an old fashioned Canon Eos1.No cropping or editing is involved. The EOS-1 is a 35mm single lens reflex camera body produced by Canon. It was announced by Canon in 1989, and was the professional model in the range.

Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken on the film set of "in het vuur van de storm" a second world war 10 part series shown on Netflix. The story is about a lonely old man ( played by me) that has been plagued by nightmares from the past for over sixty years. He carries with him a terrible secret that he has kept from the outside world all along. But on a stormy night when he is besieged by his nightmares, his fatal story plays out before his eyes one more time. It takes him back to the summer of 1942 ... There were hundreds of extra's that day on the old train station in Beekbergen. In this scene we see the main character Hans Hallerbach saying goodbye to his mother and father while his being sent to the Russian Front.

Time

It was a sunny day. I think noon.

Lighting

The sun was shining, so we didn't need extra lighting.

Equipment

I took this picture in June 2007 with an analogue Canon eos 1 and a Ultrasonic 70-210 mm zoom lens.

Inspiration

The intense emotions of the scene inspired me and the ambiance of the shoot. I could take these pictures between the rehearsals.

Editing

No, they are 100 % pure.

In my camera bag

I have a canon 60 D. I don't shoot analogue any more.

Feedback

Before the Corona Crisis it was easier to shoot on a film set. Especially with Indie filmmakers or students. It's a great way to learn the craft. Let's hope the virus will be gone soon, so that we can shoot in a normal way.
