This was a shoot on the movie set of a Dutch 10-part TV-series, broadcasted on Netflix called: In het vuur van de storm. I have shot this with an old fashioned Canon Eos1.No cropping or editing is involved. The EOS-1 is a 35mm single lens reflex camera body produced by Canon. It was announced by Canon in 1989, and was the professional model in the range.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken by me on the VSM station in Beekbergen in The Netherlands. We used this location as a film set. This 10 part mini series about the second world war ( In het vuur van de storm) was broadcast on Netflix and is about a lonely old man ( played by myself) that has been plagued by nightmares and evil shadows from the past for over sixty years. He is carrying a terrible secret that he has been hiding from the outside world all along. But when he is attacked again by the shadows on a stormy night, the fatal story plays out before his eyes once more. It takes him back to the summer of 1942 ... The woman is a movie extra and is standing in a old steam train waiting for the scene to continue.

Time

It was a very busy shooting day. I am not sure what time of the day I shot this picture. It's more than 10 years ago. There were hundreds of people on the filmset that day. Actors, crew, extra's, security staff and lots of spectators attended the shooting. Hundreds of spectators were waiting for an original fighter plane from the Second World War to be used in the series.

Lighting

Fortunately the sun did not shine directly in her face. The reflection from the sunlight on the train reverberated beautifully on her face.

Equipment

You can hardly believe it nowadays, but I used an analog canon camera EOS-1 with a film roll of 36 photos. A Canon Zoom lens 70-210 mm Ultrasonic

Inspiration

The woman immediately got my attention. I don't ponder too much about the reason. It's more of a aesthetic feeling.

Editing

No, nothing.

In my camera bag

Nowadays I am shooting with a Canon EOS 60D.

Feedback

Try using your gut feelings and don't ponder too much about the why's. You will be surprised about yourself and the wonderful pictures you will shoot. Happy Shooting.
