Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Botany Bay on Edisto Island, SC several years ago. Unfortunately, this scene is no longer available due to the hurricane damage that has been done to the coast of SC over the past few years. While the area is still beautiful, these two specific trees are no longer there.

Time

Every year I visit this stretch of secluded beach to photograph and document the changes that have occurred from one year to the next. My favorite time of day to capture this area is a sunrise, as appears in this photograph.

Lighting

The angle of the light as the sun rises on this beach in summer is simply stunning and it captures the sheer magnificence of this scene and draws viewers eyes toward the horizon.

Equipment

See photo in my gallery for specific details of camera and lens. No tripod was used for this shot. I was simply standing on the beach with my camera in my hands and snapped this picture.

Inspiration

This particular secluded area inspires me to be still, quiet and reflect on life's meaning. I took this photo for myself and others to enjoy as I looked out over the water and viewed the sunrise and was in awe of the magnificent planet we live on and the wonders of the simple things in life! This is the place where I go to feel the closest to God and appreciate nature's spendor!

Editing

This shot is without any editing or post-processing at all. All natural & filter free....

In my camera bag

I typically use my cell phone to photograph at this point without filters or edits.

Feedback

The only advice I would offer is to find places, people and/or things to photograph that make you feel alive and peaceful. If you are inspired by what you see through your lens, it is likely someone else will appreciate it too!
