Turkey Vulture, Milwaukie, Oregon. This was the first time I had seen one of these guys in that position. What a shocker! I'm drinking my morning coffee, feeding peanuts to the Steller's jays and watching for hummingbirds, and something catches my attention to the left. I look around and see this guy, maybe 50 yards away on a dead tree stump. He stayed that way for almost five minutes. Then, he preened and sat like a sentinel for another half hour, before slowly flying away with a sort of grumpy-sounding squawk. (Notice the broken wing feather, fourth "finger" on right wing.)
