The shot was taken in early morning hours of December in 2011 around 7 am. It was a beautiful calm morning .While trying to shoot the grandeur of Udaipur Lake palace , I came across an old woman by the lake .She was offering her daily prayers just after a dip in the lake..While the early morning light gave a golden hue on the Lake Palace walls,the golden lighting highlighted both the subject as well as the ripples created by the lady.With an ISO of 200 and F11 depth of field, I tried to capture the essence of both the lady and the background.Equipment
I used a Nikon D90 fitted with lens of Nikon 18-105 on a Jobypod . No flash or filter was used for this photographInspiration
Udaipur is one of the most picturesque city of India with its lavish royal & grand palaces overlooking artificial lakes.I was inspired by the beauty of the majestic Lake Palace,located on the island of Jag Niwas in Lake Pichola. While people across the world come to witness the breathtaking artistic grandeur of the palace, I always wanted a different take.Through my photograph, I tried to create an experience of going back in time to an entirely different era, a different world, a " contrast of luxury and simplicity ".Editing

I am an amateur photographer and photography is my chosen window to express my thoughts and feelings over the last 10 years.While having heavily relied on my Nikon D90 to capture my photographs, I always tried to foresee the thought before the take. For this shot,I patiently waited over 25 minutes in the same location.Ultimately when the subject was at the position, I wanted it to be, I clicked .My patience added with the luck of the ambient light in the background, helped me to make this a memorable story. I strongly try to abide by the philosophy of the great artist Ansel Adams " You don't take a photograph,you make it ." For this picture, both the subject and the background was equally important .So with F11 depth of field, both the subject and the background complimented each other, giving life to the story of " Contrast of Luxury & simplicity ".
