Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photograph just above the beach at a place called Small Bay in Cape Town, on South Africa's West Coast

Time

Sunset on 7th September, 2016 at 19:04:40 just as the sun dipped below the horizon

Lighting

I was just captivated by the hews of colour as it progressed towards the horizon, going from grey/blue, to pinkish/orange and finally settling in gold above a grey and cold winters evening ocean

Equipment

I took this shot using a Cannon EOS 650D, hand held, f4; 1/20sec; ISO 100 and focal length 10mm

Inspiration

I was just out that evening with friends but as always, have my camera at the ready when I was suddenly surprised with a spectacular sunset with our most photographed piece of real estate, Table Mountain, nestling in the background. A mother and child were enjoy the moment while seated on a bench overlooking the beach and ocean, as the father stood below taking in the moment

Editing

No, not very much at all accept to ensure that the horizon was straight and worked on a little bit of Contrast

In my camera bag

A Canon 650D; TAMRON 16-300; Canon 50mm1:8; Sigma 10-20mm and 18-55mm kit lens. Also always carry lens cleaning cloth

Feedback

Just understanding the "Golden Hour" don't be to much of a rush to get the "The Shot" rather, be patient and ready for the second you have the perfect lighting and colour conditions
