Behind The Lens

Location

The photo is taken at my home town Istanbul. Place is Karakoy. Oldest part of the city.

Time

IT was a snowy day. I was going to my work. I'm a hobbyiest photographer and i got a daily job to 08:00 till 18:00. I saw the snow and take my camera to shoot some pictures on my way.

Lighting

As I said it was snowy it's not a good day to make proper exposure. I used my camera metering in aparture mode.

Equipment

My Camera is Samsung NX1 and lens is 18-50 f2-2.8. I like to use this mirrorless monster because it is water proof same as lens.

Inspiration

I like the work of Henri Cartier Bresson. My street shots inspired mostly by his works. This one for me is specially like his masterpiece at 1932. Which is known as the photo of decisive moment.

Editing

I use Lightroom for post-process. I make it black and white and give more contrast and clarity. I usually do little bit of post process for street shots.

In my camera bag

When i'm on street i normally work with one camera and one lens. I want to be light as possible. I use Fujifilm X100T mostly. But if i want a zoom lens I use my Samsung NX1 and lenses like 18-50 and 55-200. I also use analog cameras. I have a contax G2 and Leica M4-2 both great for street photography.

Feedback

For a photo like this you must have your camera everywhere with you. It's just happened in seconds and I'm happy to be there and capture this man when he was running from snow storm. I waited there for a while and shoot some people transpassing. I was ready for the background but waiting for a better moment to come. If you wait for a while you will see that your photographer luck will help you.
