Behind The Lens
Location
Craigdarroch Castle was built in the 1890's by coal barron Robert Dunsmuir. It is located in Victoria, BC, Canada.Time
I remember it was a summer day in August and right at noon. I was hesitant in taking photos at this time of day, but thought what have I got to loose?Lighting
I really wanted to capture the contrast between how blue the sky was against the textures and shadows of the building. Considering it was such harsh lighting at noon, I was a bit concerned.Equipment
I used just my camera...a Nikon D7100. No flash, no tripod, no filters, nothing! I never even post processed this photo.Inspiration
The history of the building intrigues me. I loved the texture of the old building blocks and the colour and pattern of the roof. How did they build this in 1890?Editing
None at all. I am a beginner photographer and don't even own Lightroom yet.In my camera bag
Being a new photographer, my camera bag is pretty empty. I usually just carry my camera with a zoom lens. That's it! I hate the weight of carrying extras.Feedback
Just keep shooting.
