It was shot in Florida keys, where we went free diving to see the Christ of the Abyss.Time
I believe it was shot around noonLighting
I love how the sun rays are shown through the waterEquipment
I use my gopro for any underwater shots, as It's quite expensive getting underwater gear for my for Olympus omd .Inspiration
I really wanted to a shot of someone swimming back up to the surface. I loved that there was this empty patch surrounded by all the coral, and how the rays were beaming down almost highlighting the diver.Editing
I needed to bring out the sun rays, because in my opinion they are an important aspect to the photo. So I increased the highlights and darken the darks too. I also switched it from color to B & W, to make it the center point of the composition, and also to make the background mysterious, to make you think what the diver is emerging fromIn my camera bag
for our free dives I normal just use my gopro. But normally I have my Olympus omd em10 with a 14-140mm Lumix and Sigma mini wide 28mm. and of course my tripodFeedback
Honestly for me photography is capturing my memory of a great experience. I try to replicate it so that the viewer can also be there and can experience what I did. I have fun that is the most important part before I can even shoot anything. If I'm not feeling it and I take a photo, it ends up being garbage because I didn't have feelings towards it. I always take hundreds of photos, don't worry that most of them aren't great, you need to experiment with different angles, lighting, aperture, and even shutter speed.
