Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at my house, near an open window.

Time

It was close to sunset, probably an half hour before. The light was warm and fantastic!

Lighting

I prefer natural light, so i did not use any flash. It was close to sunset, with a warm and diffuse light, perfect for portraits.

Equipment

I used my Canon Eos 700D, 50 mm f/1.8 lens and a tripod.

Inspiration

I was inspired by looking at the amazing Steve McCurry's portraits.

Editing

I used some post-processing just to make sure that the color was closer to what I saw with my eyes and to make sure that the skin was clear.

In my camera bag

In my bag I usually have my camera, my 50 mm lens and a zoom lens, usually a 55-250 mm, but this can change if I know that I'm going to a place where there's a fantastic landscape.

Feedback

In my little experience, the only advice that I can give is that if you want to make sure that only some details are the main focus of the photo, you have to shoot with f/3.5 or less. Make sure that the light is diffuse to avoid shadows under the eyes or where are not needed. But first thing first, you have to imagine what you want in your mind, the final result that you want to achieve and then try as much as you can.
