Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken using a simple Panasonic lumix camera, tripod and time exposure on the coast of Prince Edward Island. We went to this area each evening to enjoy the sunset and a glass of wine.

Time

I was just as the sun set in the early evening. Just as the afterglow began to appear.

Lighting

I shot in manual mode and adjusted the scene to take advantage of the bright orange after glow.

Equipment

I used a tripod and simple Pansonic lumix camera w/o flash.

Inspiration

My wife thought it would be a great silhouette to send the grand kids.

Editing

Minor adjustments for white, black, and clarity.

In my camera bag

Today my photography has progressed to a higher level. I carry a SX60 Canon bridge camera for every day walking around photos from moon shots to birds and landscape. I also carry a Canon 80D with three lenses: Canon 50mm, Canon 24-105mm and Sigma 50-500mm. I always carry a light weight tripod.

Feedback

I am 73 years old and have taken up photography late in life. I like to learn from you tube tutorials. For the best sunset I suggest you scout the area out first to take advantage of the setting sun and afterglow. I also suggest experimenting with the f/stop as there are time when you can get a great star burst at a higher f/stop. Finally, I would look for an object in the landscape to give the photo perspective.
