The photo was taken in Rotterdam by night north side of the river MaasTime
I went out at midnight because I darely wanted a long exposure shot of this amazing scenery. It was a very cold night despite of the season (summer). The photo was taken at around 00:30Lighting
I tried various camera settings: exposure times, diaphragma, to be able to capture exactely what my eyes could see in that moment. It was amazing for me to see how alive the city was with all its lightsEquipment
This was shot with a Nikon d7200 and I used a tripod, a sigma 20mm lens and a remore control, no need of flashInspiration
I love long exposure night shots and therefore I already visited several times this location, both during the day and during the night, because it is one of the landmark cityscapes of Rotterdam. Previously I made photos on the opposite side of the river and for this photo in particular I decided it was the best location.Editing

In my bag I have my Nikon d7200, and I always bring with me my sigma 20mm (the lens used for this photo), a nikkor 50mm, a nikkor 70/300. For all my lenses I have polarization filters. I also bring with me a tripod and a remote controlFeedback
For this particular kind of photos I would advice patience and some more patience. This patience is needed for various reasons: first of all because you need to wait the right light, second because you need to try many exposure times of 30 seconds and more, third because you need to find the right location and because you want to make many long exposure shots. What is needed is to find the perfect location and the perfect light, making lot of experiments until you are satisfied. When you are satisfied make some more shots, because you can never know the outcome.
