Location
I took this photo when I was visiting my grandparents over in Texas.Time
The time I took this was just after dusk, so that the light of the sun wouldn't try to overshadow any of the fire's colours.Lighting
The one thing I was really going for with this picture was the vibrant red-oranges of the fire. With help of the ongoing fire, it really illuminated the shot.Equipment
The camera I used was a Nikon D3300 with a 55-200mm lens.Inspiration
I've always loved watching the fire burn, so I thought I could recreate the beauty that I saw into a still-standing image for others to see as well. I am one to dramatize my photos a bit, which is why it's zoomed in to a single glowing ember.Editing
No. With the fire shots, I've always felt dissatisfied when they didn't come out the way I wanted them to initially. In my camera bag
Generally just the camera, a few lenses, and some backup cards and such. I have recently added a few small trinkets and lights for when I want to add a little extra something to my photos, but I don't carry anything large.Feedback
Take a lot of photos of the same thing. That way, when one doesn't feel right, there's always another. If you can't find the right angle, then try it from a different perspective. Same goes for you camera settings. You can always go in and fix it later with an app if you are still unsatisfied; and I would recommend trying it out anyways, since there's always something new you might like better.
