Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken at Glenveagh National Park, in Donegal, Ireland. It was part of a day shoot I planned in the park. I noticed the local birds would not particularly shy away from people on a previous trip so took the opportunity to shoot there.Time
Its was about mid-day and over cast, I had been shooting for a while a took this very opportunistic photo when I got the chance. As you can tell the bird probably wasn't there for very long, so I prepared by always having my lens cap off and shooting as many photos as I could.Lighting
Honestly it was an overcast day and I was more focusing on getting the right photo than worrying about the lighting which I could correct in post-processing. A good turn off your flash while photographing fauna as to not disturb the capture.Equipment
A Cannon EOS 1200D, and a quick finger is about all the equipment I had. I had the flash turned off and didn't use a tripod.Inspiration
The natural scenery around Glenveagh is beautiful, it's a local national park and I went solely to capture some nice photos of the wildlife if I could. It was a long day but it paid off.Editing
Not particularly, thankfully the photo turn out as well as I would have liked. Some sharpening and blur to the background was added to give the phot more atmosphere. In my camera bag
Normally a cannon camera with a mounted flash is all I need. I will say get to know your equipment as best you can to get the most out of it. Plan your shoot and only bring the equipment that you will need, no more out you'll be tripping over yourself. Fail to plan, plan to fail.Feedback
Always be on the look-out for a "good" shoot. Meaning you don't have to have your camera thee at the time but if somewhere catches your eye than plan a shoot there. Think first about what your subject will be and then plan a shoot on capturing that subject. You'll be amazed at the results!
