Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken in a wild rugged penninsula in my beloved Co.Donegal, Ireland. I am very new to photography so every shot I take is a another lesson. The landscape of Donegal is excellent visual material for photography. The natural beauty of the place in my opinion did all the work!

Time

It was taken around midday while on a picnic. It was an extremely opportunistic photograph. I saw the scene and snapped it straight away.

Lighting

The lighting was completely natural, the only adjustment was to select a cooler scene function on the camera. It was a very dull day which helped give the photograph it,s overcast and gloomy, natural feel. It doesn't say much about the weather in Ireland.

Equipment

It was shot on a Canon EOS 1200D with a macro 18-55mm lens without a flash. Automatic focus and handheld.

Inspiration

As I say it was a very opportunistic photo. The scene caught my eye and luckily I brought my camera. I'm very happy with how it turned out definitely put a smile on my face.

Editing

Absolutly no post processing was done the photo is in it rawest form. Once again I can't take credit for the quality and beauty of the landscapes and scenery where I'm from in Ireland. It never takes too much work.

In my camera bag

Usually I have the Canon EOS 1200D with two lenses. A macro 18-55mm lens and a 75-300mm lens. I have a mounted Neewer Flash with colored filters. A set of graded lens filters and a macro fisheye lens. I intend to vastly expand the equipment selection in the future with tripods etc.

Feedback

Ireland is a plethora of scenes like this throughout the country. If you visit you will definitely find the to be the case. A bit of local knowledge can lead you to some absolute gems. Even exploring by yourself can lead to some great opportunities like this one. Honestly I would consider it to be a non-trivial task to take a bad one.
