Location
I took this photo while I was in the Ecuadorian Amazon a few years ago.Time
It was mid day, and we were on an excursion into the jungle, when we came across a troupe of squirrel monkeys.Lighting
I had no control over the lighting, since this was a wild animal I was shooting in its natural habitat, and I had to act quickly!Equipment
This image was shot on my Nikon D3100 and a kit lens.Inspiration
I was so excited to be taking photos of jungle animals in the wild, and this little guy was just so curious! He had come right up to me, and was looking up, almost like he was going to jump on me and climb me like a tree.Editing
I just did a bit of basic touch ups with colour and levels, but I didn't mess with it too much.In my camera bag
These days, I usually have my Nikon D7200, a 35mm prime Nikon lens, my go-to 18-140 Nikon lens, and my new 70-300mm Nikon lens.Feedback
When it comes to shooting animals in the wild, especially monkeys, my advice is to line up your shot as best you can, and start snapping! The move so quickly, that you often don't have time to take your time to line up the perfect shot. You need to make sure your settings are where they need to be for the condition in the jungle, and keep your shutter speed fast enough to avoid blur if the subject moves.
