Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken is chester zoo, I go a lot to practice taking all type of animal shots, and this was the 1st one I took that I was genuinely proud of, I’m self taught and delighted when this came out.

Time

This was taken around 11am on a Sunday morning, just after the birds were fed and were happy to have their photos snapped.

Lighting

I was still learning all techniques at this point and hadn’t really taken much notice of the lightning per say, just that the bird was lovely and clear.

Equipment

This shot was taken on a Nikon D3100 with a Nikon 80-300mm lens.

Inspiration

I thought the bird was beautiful, the colours, feathers and the way it was perched, comfortable but fully aware I was there.

Editing

I used a free editing site called Picassa, was again the 1st one I’d ever used. I didn’t do much to it, I cropped a little, and added a small amount of saturation.

In my camera bag

I now carry my Nikon D5100 the lens that comes it and my telephoto lens Nikon 80-300mm, and my tripod.

Feedback

With bird photography it’s all about patience, waiting for the perfect shot, wether in a zoo or wild. If you have time to sit and just watch you will get a great shot, have the sun behind you and have fun.
