Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken on 6th January, 2015 at Chidiya Tapu (Port Blair), Andaman Island, India. While on my visit to Port Blair, we decided to stay in Fortune Resort Bay Island , Port Blair, Marine Hill, Port Blair. And from here to Chidiya Tapu is a 50 min drive approximately (25.6 km)

Time

It was a late noon. I was accompanied by my little daughter and my ever supporting husband, who understands my passion for chasing sunsets, and of course my friend and childhood buddy who shares similar passion like mine. We drove through the 25.6 km highway, just to reach the spot in perfect time.

Lighting

It was the beautiful hours of the late noon, when the sun was setting behinds the hills veiled in the spec of clouds. There was natural light illuminating the scene with bright colors of the setting sun.

Equipment

Camera Canon 550D Lens EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

Inspiration

I love, learn and observe nature, and this is what drives me to chase sunsets, all the time. And I had learnt that Chidiyain Tapu beach has one of the most beautiful & striking sunset view. In many islands, you can view sunsets across the vast ocean, but in Chidiyatapu, the sun hides behind a small hill, and that is what makes the view unique.

Editing

Yes post processing is an integral part of any click. This image was clicked in RAW and later processes in Adobe Camera Raw and CS6

In my camera bag

The camera, the lens, and the cleaning brushes is all that I carry along, all the time. I understand that a tripod too is also very important, but considering that I have to manage a toddler with her essential stuffs, hence I try to avoid the tripod, most times.

Feedback

I am only amatuer photographer.... and sorry did I say photographer?? Well that would be incorrect to say as I don't consider myself a photographer. But yes I love nature and anything beautiful around. This is what drives me to capture every thing beautiful surrounding me and whatever my eyes treasure. Most importantly, one should be passionate and sincere about anything that gives him/her happiness, and if we are true to our passion, am sure we can capture any such beautiful moments. But, ofcourse the best time to capture beautiful colors of the sun is towards the dawn and the dusk, when the harsh light of the setting sun fades away.
