Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken outside in my beautiful city of Montpellier , I am self-taught photographer, each shoot has a lot of improvisation to be as creative as possible.

Time

This is probably one of my favorites , yet it was far from my favorite out. This photo was taken September 10, 2015 , I still remember , luckily the model was not afraid to get wet and then I let them ... Here I found the perfect time to capture the moment, a strong emotion moved as if something made ??her sad . The shoot was arrested shortly after not thinking that this photo has become one of my biggest achievement to date.

Lighting

I am a photographer who loves daylight , I love playing with shadows and lights. For this picture, I do focus on the model to give the impression of distress and loneliness with a sober light.

Equipment

This was shot on a Canon 5D Mark III, with an Canon 50mm F/1.4 lens. No other equipment was involved.

Inspiration

For this photo shoot , it was improvisation , five minutes before , I did not even know we would arrive at this place . Then I saw the potential with this expanse of water in the city of Montpellier. It then enough that the model sits down and she lost control of her émotions and a post- processing, i reinforced the dark and sad picture.

Editing

This photo requires a lot of processing. Indeed , creativity has increased during the editing , I wanted to show more sadness and loneliness of the model. For me, the choice of black and white was obvious then in reality the expanse of water was just the right side of the image . Upon reflection, I decided to make a symmetry of this expanse water on the left side of the image to make the model even more alone in the middle of the water and the landscape background. Finally, I harmonized the image by playing with shadows and light.

In my camera bag

The frist thing, i always pack is my Canon 50mm F/1.4, the fixed lens 50mm F / 1.4 lens is my favorite definitely, I prefer to move me to bring my creativity to the maximum. I have Canon 5D mark III body, then Canon 24-105mm which is useful for all situations. And finally, I still have my dragonne to be comfortable to shoot.

Feedback

Difficult to give advice to this photo because although it shows a specific scene picture, but this photo is above all an element of improvisation and creativity during image processing . But the advice I give is let your emotions speak before thinking technique because it is primarily capture a moment and sublimate the image then next it makes you feel .
