I took this photo on the little canary island "La Gomera" The place I took it, is called "Playa del ingles" it´s on the west coast .Time
For me it is one of my pictures I will never forget taken it. Normally in November there are very pleasant temperatures but in 2014 it was cold an windy there. On this evening Iooked out the window and thought "yes, don´t be lazy, take your backpack and try it" So went to beach, waiting for the right light, at 07.00 p.m. the time was right. ;)Lighting
For me, my favorite object on photography is the nature around me. I saw this wonderful reflections and contrasts in the black sand and know this could be a good shot.Equipment
For this picture I used my canon 5D M3, the lens was an EF 16-35 1:2,8 L, of course a tripod and some grey filters.Inspiration
Sitting in the nature and waiting for the right light is a little bit like meditation. I observe the waves and wait for the right time using the shutter release. On this photo there are some rocks, the sky the sea and the reflections, not more. I think there is a little bit loneliness in it.Editing
Post-processing, the first step in my workflow is lightroom. A little bit contrast, sharpness, not to much. The second step in photoshop I use luminosity - masks that´s it. Today in 2016 I use a Sony A7 II, my Canon lenses, and some old but great Leica lenses. Never forget grey filters, tripod and cable release. ;)Feedback
The canary islands are so unique. Especially La Gomera for me it´s the favourite island. Not much tourism, wonderful for hiking, photographing and relaxation. There is a wonderful light, a sky that´s glowing in the morning and evening and rough landscape. It´s an old volcanic island with deep canyons the highest peak is nearly 1500 meters height above sea level. So take your next journey and try it.
