Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken during a trip to the Southern part of Leyte, Philippines. This was taken near the tallest bridge in the Philippines where there was supposed to be a zip line.

Time

This is one of my memorable images. I went to that place because of the supposed zip line and bungee jumping station there, but then again, It was late when I found out that it closed down. It was about 1:00 in the afternoon so, I decided to take a hike and rest among the shades when I stumbled upon this creature, unabashed by the lens pointed towards it.

Lighting

There's nothing much to share about the lighting, I just took advantage of that bright cloudy afternoon and hoped for the best.

Equipment

This photo was taken with a Canon EOS Rebel T5 which had an EF-S 18-55mm lens. This was just taken with a kit lens, I am just an amateur so, I don't have much equipment. I'm just taking it as a challenge to take good photos with this kit lens, I believe that there'll be no hindrance large enough to stop fervent spirit.

Inspiration

My zip-line-turned-photo-walk just turned out to be fun for me, thus; out of the spur of the moment, I just let my camera take me to places.

Editing

I just tweaked the exposure a little and then I added that vignette effect which, to me, makes the creature look more elegant and mysterious.

In my camera bag

I usually bring my Canon EOS Rebel T5 with its EF-S 18-55mm kit lens, a big and small tripod, a GoPro Hero 4 (in case I need to capture a time-lapse or in wide angle, and also a point-and-shoot Olympus camera (which is waterproof and shockproof, to be used should circumstance dictates). The things I bring may see unorthodox, yet I bring this because I believe that in taking photos, the most important thing is to capture moments which otherwise would just fade with time.

Feedback

The only advice I could give is to enjoy the moment. Learn to adjust to whatever you are in and always learn to take things to your advantage though there are times when it seems hard to take the best photos, by all means take photos. The best photos, I believe, are taken when we let go of ourselves and let the camera bring us to places (except if it's near a cliff).
