Behind The Lens

Location

Austin, Texas

Time

Afternoon

Lighting

Used a painters' light, very low tech- manipulated with ingenuity.

Equipment

Canon T3i Canon 50mm

Inspiration

My roommate at the time was the subject, she was a muse to my artistic process. I always got great results when I photographed her.

Editing

Yes, in Lightroom, but I'll never tell more. That's like asking a magician to reveal his secrets. The beauty is also in not knowing about my editing process.

In my camera bag

Now I carry around a Canon 60D a couple stock lenses and my fourth nifty 50mm, I'm rough on my gear sometimes. Glad those little buggers are only $80! Also an external canon Speedlight 320ex flash, off shoe flash cord, several lens attachments (wide angle, fisheye, macro), a fold up softbox, batteries, my biz card, finger lights.

Feedback

Know your model. People you don't have a connection with aren't going to open up and interact well with you while shooting boudoir. Also being a female definitely gives me an advantage, because other women feel more comfortable modeling for me in their unmentionables, or even nude. They always tell me they aren't so relaxed around male boudoir photographers, haha.
