Behind The Lens
Location
It was my first trip to San Francisco, I just bought a new 50mm lens for my camera. I couldn't stop taking pictures. I came across a cafe with these flowers on the table and I had to stop and snap a photo.Time
This was around 10 am in the morning. I got up early in my Airbnb in Oakland and took the ferry ride over to San Francisco to explore. I was walking around Marina District checking out all the cool shops and markets they had going on that day. It was really cloudy and hot that day and the place was packed. I came to this shop and I had a wait until there was an empty table and no one walking behind the flowers to take the picture. Finally there was a gap in foot traffic and I was able to snap the perfect little shot.Lighting
I really wanted to use the natural light that was available. It was the perfect day for this, overcast. The coffee shop was sheltered but had no front walls facing the street, this is where the light was able to come in perfectly. I was able to sit and adjust my aperture and shutter speed while waiting for my coffee and the crowd to subside. The 50mm lens worked beautifully.Equipment
I used my Canon Rebel T5i, and a Canon 50mm lens. No flash.Inspiration
I really loved the earthy feel of the whole environment I was in. I loved the wooden texture of the table against the flowers. I feel the composition came together beautifully.Editing
I didn't really do much post processing on this photos. I enhanced the levels and saturation a little bit but this photo didn't need much.In my camera bag
I'm currently on the market for a new bag and I really want to update my camera. As of now, I have my Rebel T5i with a few lens which is an amazing little camera and so easy to travel with super light and durable. My go pro with waterproof housing is always a must. If I can get my hands on one I usually try and burrow or rent a Canon Mark iii those are great cameras. I got this amazing tripod that converts to a monopod and it's really light as well.Feedback
Patience is required for San Francisco shooting. Maybe it was because it was the weekend and it was packed but you really have to sit and watch for gaps in the crowds of people (if you are shooting an object or particular area). There are so many places to take photos around this area, I definitely want to go back with more time to take more shots!
