Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo while I was on a walk at Seaford Head in Sussex UK. I was sitting on a bench at the time having a break. I just happened to see it land on this purple flower for around three to five seconds.Time
This photo was taken in June 2016 in the middle part of the day. The sun was up and to the right of the Butterfly.Lighting
The lighting is all natural and the background happens to be sandy mud which has had the top layer of grass worn away which helped to make the image. I like to keep any images natural with the lighting when it comes to nature.Equipment
I used a Sony A65 SLT Camera with a Sigma 150-500mm Lens. I used it freehand without flash. the lens setting was F6.3 Aperture, 1/3200 Shutter, ISO800, at 500mm. The camera itself has a 1.5x Crop Sensor Which gave a total focal length of 750mm.Inspiration
I love nature and love being outdoors. I find it hard to get around as I am partially disabled and I love to go to places where I can walk and take my time. If I am on a longer walk I would then use a mobility scooter to get around. Nature always fascinates me and it is nice to sit and watch as this helps with my depression.Editing
The only post production I did was crop the image slightly to centralise it and a very slight light adjustment. In my camera bag
In my main camera bag I have a wide variety of equipment including: Sony A65 and a Sony A68 DSLR Bodies both 24.6mp. Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 EX DG Lens, Sigma 100-300mm APO Lens with 1.4x Teleconverter, Tamron USD 24-70mm and 70-200mm USD Lenses, spare batteries and memory cards, Small cleaning kit, Filter kit and yongnuo speedlight MK5 flashgun. You never know what kit you may need and when.Feedback
Be prepared and have basic light settings ready in the camera as you may only have a couple of seconds to take the shot. Be patient as sometimes waiting is a must with nature, I have gone out loads of times and not even taken a shot. Get to know your equipment by trail and error method as this is a great way of learning. You will spend the rest of your life learning equipment but knowing the basics is always going to be the best place to start. And lastly enjoy yourself.
