Behind The Lens

Location

I was on a day out while in the New Forest UK, I visited a Bird of Prey Centre Called Liberty's Reptile and Raptor Centre, There they had birds of prey from all over the world. Most born in captivity to help promote awareness of what the humans are destroying.

Time

Taken at 11:20am on 8th July 2015

Lighting

Lighting was all natural and the use of the sun helped make the shot

Equipment

I used Sony SLT-A65 25MP Camera body with a Tamron 70-300mm LD DI lens Aperture f5.6 Shutter Speed 1/250th Sec ISO 1600 300mm Focal length

Inspiration

I love birds of prey and the peregrine has to be one of my favourite, it is the fastest animal on earth reaching speeds of over 200MPH when they are in a stoop to catch their unsuspecting prey

Editing

I don't like to do editing as I try to keep my images as natural as possible. I may have just done a bit of brightness and highlights adjustment in Paintshop pro X6

In my camera bag

I have a very big bag with a mix of equipment, in my bag or case is: Sony ILCA A68 24Mp Camera Body Sony SLT A65 24Mp Camera Body Sigma 150-500mm lens Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 Lens Minolta 50mm f1.7 lens Sony 18-55mm Kit Lens Tamron 18-200mm lens 2x Yongnuo flashguns 2 spare batteries for sony Sony Macro extension tube set Sigma 1.4X Teleconverter for Sony Kenko 2X Teleconverter for Sony Nikon D3300 24Mp Camera Body Nikon DX 18-135mm Lens Nikon VR DX 18-55mm Lens Sigma LD 70-300mm Lens 2 Nikon Spare Batteries

Feedback

Patients is always a must with wildlife whether it is out in the wild or in captivity, I am partially disabled and try not to let it stop me. Play around with settings and angles to get the best light this peregrine falcon portrait is the best one of 5 images. sometimes it is best to use a monopod or tripod to help keep the camera steady so don't be scared to take one and use it.
