With horse racing you never know what to expect. Sometimes the horses will be perfectly cool, calm, and collected, and other times a tiny little leaf in the corner of the paddock might freak them out. In this case, Reporting Star just did not want to be saddled. It took 7 people, but eventually they got him calmed down with some pets and scratches from the pony riders and groom, and got the saddle on him. The effort these "behind the scenes" workers put in with these horses should be applauded. They risk their lives daily to keep these beautiful animals, and the people who work with them, safe. While I know the dark side of racing, I'm fortunate to have a track close by where the horses are incredibly well cared for and loved.
Here, Reporting Star remained upright, and no one was injured, thankfully!!
