The arduous journey across the Simpson from Birdsville to Poeple's Corner, the road is treacherous in places. The desert is closed during summer, and the road blows over in some areas, needing a new track to be pushed through once it is open again.

Having been there, this is a magnificent capture. My pictures with film are all on postcard sized prints. :)

Location
This was taken at the magic hour, when the sun goes down and the moon is rising, on the Simpson Desert, Australia. Hundreds of miles from nowhere, we camped out in pursuit of trekking across to Poeples Corner, the border of three states.Time
Taken in the early evening.Lighting
There was no special lighting, more likely timing.Equipment
I used my Sonya99, and a tripod.Inspiration
The desert is an inspiration in low light, the colours of the sand are less harsh, and so is the heat too!Editing
This image was more about the composition than the post processing. In my camera bag
I travel light, using my Tamon 28-300 and I also carry my macro lens, a flash and tripod.Feedback
The best advice for travelling long distances across a desert, is to be sure you have plenty of charged batteries and memory cards. Doing the milky way is the best place on the desert due to lack of lights.
