This sea lion was enjoying a nice meal at the Ballard Locks in Seattle. The Sockeye salmon start their migration to the spawning grounds with the fish ladder at the locks being one of their last obstacles for predators. This sea lion had been chasing the salmon and finally came up with a prized catch. From the time he came up to the time he disappeared was about six frames. A few years ago I shot a similar photo, and it took me about three hours of waiting to capture it. This one I was able to get in less than five minutes of arriving. Funny, there were two girls next to me with Selfie sticks, completely oblivious to what was going on. They never even saw it, but I chimped the photo with them.
