This was taken in Puerto Vallarta. We were walking through neighborhood close to a hotel and I thought this door and window complimented the suit perfectly. As usual, I reached into my bag of jewelry and added additional styling to the image. Amazing what $2-$3 jewelry from Claires can do with a photo.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We were shooting swimwear at a local hotel and I found this house with the wooden door close by and thought this was a perfect opportunity to use it with a brown bikini.

Time

This was late in the afternoon and the sky was a bit overcast which created a nice softbox for a perfect setup as far as lighting goes.

Lighting

I love natural light and overcast skies for a shot like this.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D300 back in 2007, handheld with no flash and I think I used my favorite lens for shooting swimwear, my 180mm f/2.8

Inspiration

Well, not only was the model inspiring and beautiful, but I am always looking for a unique photo when shooting swimwear. The door and window were the perfect setup and knew right away this would be a perfect image.

Editing

Some sharpening and a bit of color correction.

In my camera bag

I always have my nifty 50mm, my 1800mm f/2.8 Lens and also like to throw in my 10.5mm lens for those wild photo opportunities. I also love to shoot with my Fuji X-E1 with the 35mm f/1.4 lens.

Feedback

Try to compliment the swimsuit with a similar or contrasting background
