Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Melbourne Beach, Florida on a stormy day.

Time

5:00 PM

Lighting

It had stopped raining and the sun was just beginning to peak out of the clouds.

Equipment

It was one of those moments where I did not have my camera with me so I used my Samsung Galaxy phone.

Inspiration

I was captivated by the three white ibises all in line, posing on the edge of a frothy ocean. They reminded me of ballet dancers, checking their reflections in a wall of mirrors, thus the title: "Water Ballet."

Editing

This was extremely low-tech. All I did was crop (which may have caused some loss of resolution). If I had my Canon with me I would have zoomed in. I have a shaky hand due to Parkinson's disease which sometimes results in slightly out of focus shots. In this case, I think the blurred focus adds a dreamy quality.

In my camera bag

I love my Canon Power Shot SX410IS.

Feedback

Take lots of walks, be aware of your surroundings and interesting shots will present themselves. Don't pressure yourself to get a perfect shot, have fun, learn from your mistakes as well as your successes. Be patient.
