This is a photo of Brisbane city taken from the iconic Story Bridge just a few minutes walk from home.Time
I took the photo at dusk with the city lights reflecting off the river.Lighting
Timing is so important to getting the right light. I've lost photo opportunities in the past by procrastinating for less than a minute about getting up to get my camera - sometimes the "right light" moment only lasts for a minute or two so act fast!Equipment
This was shot on a Canon EOS 350D on a tripod.Inspiration
I used to walk home along the river gawking at the colors and reflections at that time of day. So one day I got out there with my camera to capture it. The boat in the photo is a Citicat which is one of the modes of public transport in Brisbane.Editing
I did a little bit of post processing to bring in a bit more contrast and also some sharpening. The colors were stunning as is!In my camera bag
This image was taken in 2008 on a Canon 350D - my first ever SLR. My new baby is a Fujifilm XT10 with 2 prime lenses. It took a lot of reading the manual to figure out how to drive this camera after using a Canon for years (the controls were all so diferent), but I am loving it! And its smaller size means I take it out with me more often. My everyday camera is my trusty iPhone.Feedback
Looking out for the little things like the boat in this photo. I took a bunch of photos, but this one with the Citycat is my fave - it introduces movement and perspective into the image, but it's as iconic to Brisbane as the river and the bridge I stood on the take this photo.
