Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at a local state park near my home. It is a place I go to often to take lots of photos. There is so much beauty there and I see something different every time I go.

Time

This was an early morning hike that I was taking. I wanted to try to capture beauty before people were there to interrupt it.

Lighting

It is all natural light. It was just me, my camera and sunlight.

Equipment

I use a Nikon 3300 and a Tamron 70-300mm macro lens for almost all of the pictures I take.

Inspiration

I love simplicity and beauty in things that are often overlooked. This flower was actually fairly small and I had passed it once already. The lines of it caught my attention and I was reminded of a verse in the bible "“For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands." Isaiah 55:12. God's creation and detail in even the smallest of things amaze me.

Editing

I made the picture black and white and added the color back to one bud on the flower. I felt the black and white would show the lines in the flower much better and the addition of color to one of the buds would draw the eye of the viewer.

In my camera bag

I am just beginning and am very simple in what I use. I have my Nikon 3300, my 50mm lens and my 70-300 mm macro lens.

Feedback

Look for the unseen, the often overlooked things. It is easy to see the big "in your face" or brightly colored objects, but if you slow down and really soak in your surroundings, there is so much beauty to be photographed.
