Behind The Lens

Location
I along with my friend Dr. Vivek Gajare visited Keoladeo National Park, Bharatpur, Rajasthan, also known as birding paradise of Asia. In the morning when we approached forest we spotted this deer with its fawn staring us with utmost innocence. We stopped there, took out our long telephoto lenses and started picturing it.
Time
It was around 6.30 am in the morning and was quite foggy out there. It's without a doubt one of my favourite image. Infact I would say such kind of images inspires many photographers to take such challenges or to take even better shots. The image was taken in mystical Bharatpur, a famous bird sanctuary now better known as Keoladeo National Park. I have visited this place many times, but this time it was special as I got an opportunity to fulfil my dream. Franckly speaking we missed her "fawn" that just disappeared behind the bushes.
Lighting
Due to dense fog lighting was very low. I had to change my iso to high. Got merely few seconds to take these shots, just managed to take couple of shots only before she disappeared.
Equipment
This was shot using my favourite camera Nikon D810 with Tamron 150-600 mm lens and manfreto monopad.
Inspiration
It's dream of almost every nature Photographer to capture similar shot. Viewer likes and appreciates these kinds of shots due to the challenges involved. Many don't get such opportunities but as its rightly said luck favors the brave and we were fortunate enough to take that dream shot at Mystical Bharatpur.
Editing
Yes, the shot was originally taken in RAW format and technically post processing was done, which is an integral part of photography. Even the jpg output also a processed that done automatically in camera. I fixed some WB, removed noises, and fixed lighting to make it look better.
In my camera bag
Nikon D810 is my favorite gear. The results are excellent in low light conditions. Not much noise compared to other cameras. Along with this I carry Tamron 150-600 mm lens. I also carry Nikkor 105 mm for macro photography. You never know when a particular lens can help you out.
Feedback
One should have patience while doing wildlife photography. Chasing or disturbing wild animals to capture a shot is definitely not recommended. Try mastering their body languages and try to communicate with them. When one learn this he/she eventually becomes much better photographer and nature enthusiast. For this shot we immediately stopped when we saw them and that’s why we were able to take the desired shots. Always be prepared and keep your gears ready. Check the camera settings and the lightning conditions before entering the forest. Take few sample shots so you know what camera demands. Increase ISO or fix iso to auto at a max of 3200. Make sure check what max iso support your camera that produces better result. Manual or Aperature mode depends on the subject. You'll get time to change your camera settings. So be prepared before they disappear. I used manual mode and auto iso to 3200. My camera supports multiple presets, so I saved those as "low light", "Birding", "Moderate" etc. all these settings are different speed, iso etc. For example in case of low light for birding, the preference are high iso at 3200, with min shutter speed 500, In case of "moderate" max iso are 1600 and min shutter speeds are 100.
