The Socotra Cormorant is an endangered species with only two large populations left, although they are both threatened by development. These all black birds stand out in the sun shading their eggs during the summer where temperatures can reach up to 55 degrees centigrade. The chicks stay close to the adults as sun sets as the fishing birds return to the colony and there nests.
