It was May and I was in a business trip at Rio (in a international banking conference). It was my first time in Rio, so I had brought my camera with me for shooting after hours. However, the whole week was stormy and dark. Naively, I did not expect that ugly wheather in Rio. The very last night, it was still heavily raining and I had not had any chance to take any photo. I was frustrated, with a kind of frustration only photographers will understand. So, in spite of the wheather, I stubbornly convinced a colleague of mine to go up to Pao de Açucar. When we were in the taxi, the rain became much stronger, almost a tropical storm. The taxi driver and my colleague tried to convince me that it was not a good idea to go up there under such conditions. Both looked at me with incredulity and stupor when I insisted. The funicular was going right and left with the rainy wind. "Gone with the wind", I thought it would be the epitaph my wife was going to put in my grave. But when we were up there, suddenly the rain and wind stoped and for a few minutes the clouds were opened. The clarity of the air was amazing. I had not tripod so I put my camera over different balustrades and, with the Live View and Touching the Screen focusing method, I took these crystal clear views of the night lights of Rio. A few minutes later, the storm resumed its symphony of war.
