This thatched barn at the Avoncroft Museum of Buildings is a threshing barn, where grain was separated from the stalk of the wheat, oats or barley by beating with a flail. The two sets of doors allows the wind to blow away the light chaff (the dried seed casing) leaving the grain to fall on the floor.
