It was a very fortunate chance to have experienced the crossing paths and alignment between the two generations, their apparels and gadgets. The elderly are trying to catch up to the modern era while the young ones are trying to maintain their heritage and culture.

Location
This photo was taken as I was strolling down the streets of Kyoto as a tourist. It was my first time in Japan and my second official vacation trip with my DSLR Nikon D3300.Time
It was really interesting as Japan brings a lot of colors, scenery and wonders. I remember taking hundreds of photo after leaving my capsule hotel at 7am, decided to grab lunch after being fascinated by the beautiful temples/shrines around. I did some research on Google and confirmed there were other shrines within my area that I should explore and this shot was taken around 1pm on my way to the shrine.Lighting
No lighting preparations (natural sunlight only as I did not carry any lighting/tripods) were done as this shot had to be taken in a split second.Equipment
I used my Nikon D3300 with the stock 50mm lens. No other equipment were used.Inspiration
While being amazed by how much Japan had to offer, I was strolling behind an elderly couple who were holding hands. Then I noticed something colorful grabbing my attention. It was a young couple that was dressed traditionally that was coming towards us from the opposite direction. It clicked in my head that I should stop and quickly setup my camera just as they were about to cross paths. I thought what a wonderful shot this is as I slowly clicked the shutter button. This image was an embodiment between the young and the old. The old is moving on with the times, dressing modernly and probably learning to get around the Internet and touch screen phones. The young ones are trying to embrace their culture and heritage. It is common to see the opposite happening, but for this instance, I think this is the struggle that humanity is facing. And this photo is my inspiration to showcase to the world how we are continuously living both in the present and the past.Editing
As someone who was new to photography, I wanted my images to focus more on the object and added circular blur outside of the focus object. Contrast and saturation were increased a little. In my camera bag
I only carry light with me during my trips (1 DSLR body, 2 lens max). Tripod only required when the location/shot is planned in advance.Feedback
For street photography, it's really keeping a keen eye on things that bring meaning to you. Don't worry too much on the setup if there isn't sufficient time. Capture the moments, don't miss out.
