Red tulips are so rich that a sunny day whites them out, since they also glitter. To solve my endless frustration with red flowers, I used the Vivid setting on my Canon.
I was impressed- the red showed as the correct red, and where the sunlight hyper illuminated, the faded colour was there to help me to express what has been irking me about taking shots of,especially, tulips- but other very vivid flowers as well. Another thing is to reduce the aperture, but I don't always want flowers peering out of the deep, either.
