I should mention that the memorial is to an iconic photo taken in New Westminster of a young boy running to catch up with his father, who is heading off to serve overseas. The photo became one of the most recognized and remembered photographs in history. It was taken by Claude P Detloff on October 1 1940. The memorial was erected on the 100th Anniversary of the taking of the photo. The boy (now an elder citizen) was on hand.
