Location
The photo was taken in the botanical garden of Freiburg (south-west of Germany).Time
During my afternoon round in the botanical garden I found this wonderful pulsatilla. The photo was taken on May 5,2016 at 15:34 PM Although the time of day was not ideal, this plant was located in the penumbra.Lighting
The location of the pulsatilla was ideal in order to set it in a beautiful light. In addition I also used the other flowers in th background with a bokeh effect.Equipment
I used an olympus digital camera E-PL 5 to take the picture with a macrolense 60 mm in addition a deflector. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
The pulsatilla flower is a very mysterious plant and she is also very photogenic flower. I liked the challenge myself,so I wanted try and take a picture of a single flower,as they usually grow in clusters.Editing
Usually I take my pictures in RAW.With RAW you´re able to produce higher quality images and it is easier to edit the images without loosing on quality. This image editing is required. For the further processing of the RAW photos i used "Lightroom".,in order to achieve the best result. In Lightroom I used the contrast slider in order to increase the contrat to help bring out more specific details. In my camera bag
My olympus digital camera E-PL 5 with lens 14-150 mm,f/5,6 and my prefered macrolens 60 mm f/2,8,a deflector,a bean-bag or a little light weight tripod.I like using my system camera which is very handy and easy to use.It also contains a folding screen.Of course you could also use a proper SLR-camera in order to obtain even better pictures.but this smaller,light-weight camera has completely convinced me in my days to day use, especially as i can always take it around with me.Feedback
When I want to create a nice bokeh,I in general look for a good setting (background)-eg.splash of colours through eg.other blossoms. Further more it is important to take the photo on an "eye-to-eye level"with the flowers you are taking the picture of. Another Advice:is to move away from the object. Taking photos from different angles or different distances from the objects helps you find the best possible lighting. In addition"Don´t get impatient!"
